Dilating drops enlarge the patient's pupil allowing the doctor a much better view to evaluate the posterior portion of the eye, including the retina and optic nerve, without the pupil becoming smaller. After being dilated, you may be more sensitive to sunlight for several hours and may experience a mild blurring of vision.
